Two people shot dead during St James, Trelawny robberies
WESTERN BUREAU – Two people were killed during armed robberies in St James and Trelawny on Friday and Saturday last week.
In the St James incident, Lloyd Gabbidon, 56, of Retirement District, and another man were at a shop in Mud Valley District in the parish when they were approached by two men armed with handguns at about 10:30 Friday night.
The gunmen, police said, shot the two after robbing them of an undetermined sum of money. The two were taken to hospital where Gabbidon died while undergoing treatment.
The other man was admitted in serious condition.
Desrick Clarke, 36, of Wakefield in Trelawny, was killed at about 3:30 Saturday morning.
Clarke, the police said, was at his cook shop in Wakefield when he heard one of his employees begging for his life. He went to investigate and one of a group of three gunmen opened fire, hitting him just above the left eye. He died on the spot.
The gunmen, police said, then robbed the cashier and the employees of an undetermined sum of money before making their escape on foot in the area.
