74 year-old man on carnal abuse rap
WESTERN BUREAU – A 74 year-old man who has been accused of impregnating a 14 year-old, is to return to the Falmouth Resident Magistrate’s Court on September 20 to answer to a charge of carnal abuse.
Sylvester Genus of Piedmont, Trelawny was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared before the court on Wednesday. He was arrested and charged by the Clarks Town police last week.
Allegations are that in April and July of this year, Genus took the student to his house in Piedmont where he had sex with her. The girl later reported the matter to her grandmother.
Some time later, the teenager was taken to the doctor and was found to be almost six months pregnant.
The matter was reported to the Clarks Town police station and an investigation was launched into the incident.
Genus was subsequently arrested and charged for carnal abuse.
