Doctor on duty, chef off
Doctor on duty – chef off – is how Thursday Life would like to introduce Dr Richard Harrison. We couldn’t help but notice this foodie (he mixes a mean rum concoction too) along with his wife Judith at the recently concluded Food and Wine Magazine Epicurean Escape held at Grand Lido Negril.
Dr Harrison’s passion for cooking started, according to his mother (noted educator Pamela Harrison), as soon as he was able to walk. “He would be on a stool in the kitchen watching me cook” she shares with Thursday Life.
Dr Harrison now stirs pots whenever he’s not the doctor on call, and word it seems has spread, for, according to his wife “as soon as friends hear that Richard is cooking they all descend on the household”.
So when Harrison is not working the wards at Kingston Public Hospital, look for him in his kitchen or those of Grand Lido Resort Negril alongside good friend and executive chef Martin Maginley, where chances are they’ll be serving up large portions of shrimp and jerk pork, or as they did last Friday morning – escoveitch fish and bammy.
