11 for court today
WESTERN BUREAU – Eleven men whom the St James police charged on the weekend with breaches of the State of Public Emergency Act will appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court today to answer to the charges.
It was not clear up to press time last night what specific charges have been laid against the men, but some have been accused of looting business places during the passage of Hurricane Ivan.
They are among 16 people who were taken into custody, between Friday night and Sunday, by lawmen.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) information officer for St James Constable Camille Tracey, four of the men were detained for shop breaking and larceny while the other was detained in connection with a murder in the parish.
