Police await post-mortem on death of Trinidadian
THE Coral Gardens Police in St James are awaiting the result of a post-mortem to determine the cause of death of a cruise ship passenger in the city on Tuesday.
The passenger, Jennifer Winn, a 58 year-old nurse of Trincity in Trinidad, was aboard a cruise ship docked at the Ocho Rios Pier when she fell ill. She was taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where she was treated.
She subsequently complained of feeling ill again after returning to the ship, which was on its way to Montego Bay. This time she was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she later died.
Man killed by mob in Golden Grove
A man who allegedly threatened to burn down a house at Golden Grove, St Thomas was beaten to death by a group of persons in the area Wednesday night.
The dead man has been identified only as “Bunny”.
The police said that at about 11:00 pm, Bunny, who is said to have been of unsound mind, went to premises at Golden Grove and threatened to set it on fire. He subsequently kicked opened a door and threatened the occupants who raised an alarm.
A number of persons came to their assistance and Bunny was severely beaten.
The police were alerted and the injured man was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
