Portia to face corporate panel

PORTIA Simpson Miller, local government minister and aspirant for head of government, will face the island’s top corporate bosses on Tuesday.

Simpson Miller is the second of four People’s National Party contenders, who are facing off for leadership of the party and the position of prime minister, to address the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica.

She will be the guest speaker at Tuesday’s 44th Job Creation Awards, held monthly at the Terra Nova hotel in St Andrew, following which a selected panel will pose questions regarding her candidacy.

The panelists include businesswoman Audrey Marks, chief executive of Paymaster Jamaica, businessman Wayne Chen, chief executive of SuperPlus Food Stores, and academic Dr John Rapley, senior lecturer in government at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.

Dr Peter Phillips, national security minister, faced a similar panel several weeks ago.
