Two killed, five injured in downtown traffic accident
TWO siblings were killed and five others injured in a vehicular collision along Orange Street in downtown Kingston yesterday.
Dead are Nicholas Gunn, 17, and his sister Tishanna Gunn, 18. They are both of Hope Flats, Kingston 7. Injured are:
. Courtney Holmes of Olympic Court, Kingston 11;
. Stanley Watson, 81, of Victoria Avenue, Kingston 16;
. Sean Sharpe, 32, of Meadow Lane Drive, Kingston 19;
. Owen Lawson 54, of East Queen Street, Kingston; and
. Michelle Morgan 32, of Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports from the CCN’s Metro officer are that about 6:15 am, the Gunns were travelling in a Nissan Sunny motor car registered 3733 EE, driven by Holmes, along Orange Street.
On reaching a section of the road, the vehicle collided with a JUTC bus registered 4596 PP, driven by Richard Reid.
Seven people – including four aboard the JUTC bus – sustained injuries and were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where Nicholas Gunn was pronounced dead.
Tishanna, who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, died while undergoing treatment. Holmes was admitted in serious condition, while the others were treated and released.
The Kingston Central traffic department is investigating.
