St Ann Kite Festival gets under way Easter Monday
THE 2007 St Ann Kite Festival will be held at the Seville Heritage Park in St Ann’s Bay on Easter Monday, April 9, with the organisers promising that this year’s event will be “bigger and better” than previous years.
“Our vision this 4th anniversary is that we will far exceed all other kite festivals over the past four years. The production this year is going to be packed with experiences that will appeal to all senses – food, education, fashion, performing arts and so on,” said Seville Park operations manager, Joan Seagears.
She told JIS News that through the festival and family fun day, “we aim to increase awareness of the great importance of families coming together to have fun and the unity and strength that it will foster in our children”.
The festival gets underway at 10:00 am, and in addition to kite flying, will feature a performance from the Tivoli Marching Band, bounce-about, slides, donkey and horseback riding, face painting, train rides, and a host of other activities.
“The grand stage area will come alive at 3:00 pm with magicians, cultural performances from Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and talent show for the children,” Seagears said, noting that the festival will “heat up” at 6:00 pm with a stage show featuring the Fab 5 Band, Tony Rebel, Mr Perfect, Christopher Martin and other local artistes.
The cost of tickets is $500 pre-sold and $600 at the gate, while children will pay $200 at the gate.
