Former Mannings bursar to be tried on March 28
Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland
Sixty-year-old Earl Corrie, the former bursar of the Mannings School in Westmoreland who was arrested and charged with 40 counts of larceny as a servant and falsification of accounts, has been given an early trial date – March 28 –
to facilitate his medical problems.
The date was assigned to Corrie on Tuesday after he presented Acting Senior RM for the parish of Westmoreland, Llyle Armstrong with documents proving his illness in the Savanna-La-Mar Resident Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
Corrie, who appeared in court without his lawyer, resides in Petersfield in the parish. He was employed by the Ministry of Education as the school’s bursar in 1994 and served as such until September 2005 when an audit was conducted into the school’s account.
Following the audit an investigation was launched and Corrie arrested on November 11, 2005.
He was later offered bail in the sum of $500,000 with 1, 2 or 3 sureties and ordered to surrender his travel documents.
