Air Jamaica introduces special flights for ICC Cricket World Cup
AIR Jamaica has introduced special flights from South Florida and around the region for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
The flights from South Florida will be offered during the group and semi-final stages, and will make it possible for people to fly into the island on the day of a match and depart on the same day.
The schedule will see JM038 departing Fort Lauderdale on March 13, 19 and 24 and on April 24 at 6:45 am, with JM039 rescheduled to depart Kingston at 7:30 pm, and returning to Fort Lauderdale at 10:10 pm
Meanwhile, regional flights have been arranged for the semi- final rounds, with a charter scheduled to depart Barbados at 5:10 am on April 24 and arrive in Kingston at 7:00 am. After the game, the charter will return to Barbados via St Lucia.
The following day, April 25, two flights will depart Kingston for St Lucia at approximately 2:30 am, and return at 9:00 pm to give fans the opportunity to view the second semi-final.
Air Jamaica will also operate two flights on April 28 from Kingston to Barbados, departing at approximately 2:30 am and returning at 9:00 pm to facilitate the viewing of the final.
Richard Lue, director of CWC and Special Events at Air Jamaica, said that the implementation of the special service was in response to demand from “our loyal Caribbean nationals and our cricket-loving patrons in South Florida”.
