Proposed Portmore hospital suffers setback
The proposal to build a private hospital in the municipality of Portmore in St Catherine has suffered a setback because of the need for additional land for the US$4-million project.
A post-feasibility study review of the project found that the initial land acquired was insufficient for the size and scope of the development, a statement from CayJam Development, developers of the project, said. It said work would begin on the construction of the hospital as soon as the land deal was finalised.
“.The developers understand that site selection is a key factor in the success of the hospital. We also understand that Portmore is a growing community, and in order to provide the services required, it is prudent that we look ahead and construct the hospital in such a manner that provides room for expansion. The site must have easy access and adequate room for parking, landscaping and accommodation in order to enhance the overall wellness environment of the hospital,” said the statement.
