Radio producer found guilty of carnal abuse
RADIO producer Floyd Wright, 32, was found guilty
of carnal abuse in the Home Circuit Court last Tuesday and is to be sentenced tomorrow.
Wright, a sports producer at KLAS Sports Radio, told the court that he was being framed by the teen, with whom he seldom associated because of her disrespectful behaviour.
The girl, who was 13 at the time of the alleged carnal abuse and was living with a relative, told the court that between January 11, 2002 and February 2005 Wright had sex with her against her will and threatened to kill her should she tell anyone.
The girl told the court that the first time the incident occurred she was sleeping in her room one night when she suddenly felt someone on top of her, holding her hands and mouth.
She further recounted how she fought off her attacker but was eventually overpowered and assaulted. The morning following the incident, she said, Wright then threatened to send men to kill her should she tell anyone what had happened.
The teen said the sexual assaults continued, telling how she would be awakened by her attacker gyrating against her. She said also that one morning she woke up to find Wright sleeping beside her – and how he dashed from her room when she touched him.
Fearful and tired of the abuse, the girl went to live with her mother some time in 2005 where she later fainted in a ditch one morning and was taken to the hospital where it was discovered that she was no longer a virgin. The girl said she told her mother of her ordeal and a report was made to the police. Wright was later arrested and charged.
