Three boys allegedly try to rape teacher

THREE male students allegedly attempted to rape a female teacher at the Kingston Technical High School yesterday, a source close to the school told the Observer.

The source, who asked not to be named, said the teacher was taking a Grade 10 class in a building to the back of the school, called ‘the temple’, when the boys – the only ones who had turned up for the class – reportedly started saying things which made the teacher feel uncomfortable.

“One of them said, ‘Den Miss, what if rain start fall, how you would get out?'” the source said.

The teacher reportedly set the afternoon’s work on the board and started to leave, but was allegedly blocked by the boys.

“One of them held her hands behind her and another held her around her waist, she literally had to fight her way from them,” the source said, adding that the teacher was so distraught, she had been crying all afternoon.

When the Observer visited the school, some teachers said they had heard speculation, but weren’t sure. Others kept silent.

When one teacher suggested that the Observer speak with the vice principal, another suggested that that person was unavailable.

Some students, on the other hand, said they had only heard of a fight involving another teacher and some students.

The source confirmed that there was a separate incident at the school yesterday, in which some male students allegedly attacked a male teacher after he caught them cheating on an examination and proceeded to take their test papers.

“All of that happened within a hour,” the source said. “This is a thing at the school, this indiscipline, it’s ridiculous now,” the source said.

The female teacher had reportedly expressed concern, out of fear, about teaching classes at places like ‘the temple’.

“There are senior students down here on rape and gun charges. sometimes students will come to school late and say ‘Miss, I was in court’,” the source said.
