Lobster season closes April 1 to June 30
THE 2007 lobster season will be officially closed between April 1 and June 30, the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands has said.
“During this time, persons are prohibited from capturing lobsters as outlined in the Fishing Industry Act, 1975 (Section 19), which authorises the minister to declare by Order, any period to be a closed season, to protect any endangered species of fish specified in such an Order,” the Fisheries Division said.
It said all persons expecting to have lobsters in storage after March 31, are required to inform the Fisheries Division, in writing, no later than April 5, about the quantity of lobsters/meat in their possession.
