Golding condemns painting of JLP slogans on PNP office
Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Bruce Golding has condemned the painting of his party’s slogans on the walls of the office of People’s National Party candidate for South St Catherine, Fitz Jackson, last week.
Golding attributed the action to “misguided Labourites” and condemned it as “out of order”.
“I wasn’t here. I am not here to try no case. That’s not my job,” Golding told supporters at Naggo’s Head, St Catherine on Friday night.
“On the face of it, it appears as if some misguided Labourites decided to do a thing. Let me tell you as the leader, what you did is out of order. What you did is not acceptable to me. What you did is not only unlawful, but it will not win us one single vote. Therefore, I say two things to you: I say to you, don’t do it again, because when you do it you embarrass me,” he said.
Golding, however, commended the JLP candidate, Dr Errol Williamson and Spanish Town mayor, Andrew Wheatley, for providing paint to have the slogans painted out.
“That is in the spirit of the JLP that I lead,” Golding said.
