Jamaica Broilers donates chickens to hurricane victims
THE Jamaica Broilers Group has pledged to supply approximately 3,000 pounds of Best Dressed Chicken to assist with the Old Harbour Bay Baptist Church feeding programme which currently provides at least one hot meal per day to approximately 200 displaced and needy persons in Old Harbour Bay.
“The first delivery of the donated Best Dressed Chicken was made over the weekend by a team from Best Dressed Chicken, headed by David Radlein, marketing manager of Best Dressed Foods – the marketing company for products produced by the Jamaica Broilers Group – and Brand Manager for Best Dressed Chicken, Joe Cooper,” the company said in a press release yesterday.
According to Radlein, Best Dressed Chicken will donate to the church 45 kilos or 100 lbs of the protein each day initially for one week, with the possibility of extending the donation to four weeks. However, a weekly review of the needs of the hurricane victims will be made by the company.
The company also said arrangements have been made for daily pick-up of the chicken from cold storage facilities , given the fact that the church is without electricity.
It also said that distribution of the cooked chicken would be closely monitored to “ensure that the genuine needs of the residents are met”.
The Old Harbour Bay area is home to the Best Dressed Chicken processing plant, Best Dressed Chicken Feed Mill, and the newly commissioned JB Ethanol Plant.
