Big winners and big losers
Eleven of the seats contested in yesterday’s general elections produced big winners and big losers, with the defeat of former health minister Horace Dalley to the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP’s) Laurence Broderick in Clarendon Northern proving the biggest shocker.
The People’s National Party’s (PNP’s) Robert Pickersgill defied pollsters’ predictions that he would lose to the JLP’s Dr Sandra Nesbeth in St Catherine North West, trashing her by just over 2,000 votes.
Richard Azan’s loss to the JLP’s Michael Stern in Clarendon North West was another big surprise, while very few people had expected that the PNP’s Trevor Munroe would lose to the JLP’s Dr St Aubyn Bartlett in St Andrew Eastern.
Here is a list of the big winners and big losers.
