Police uniform, ammo seized in Wicket Avenue raid
THE police yesterday said that a quantity of assorted ammunition, police uniform and explosives were seized during a joint operation by Operation Kingfish and the Special Anti-Crime Task Force at Wicket Avenue in Kingston.
According to the police, the items were found in an abandoned building along Wicket Avenue, which is located on Balcombe Drive in Kingston.
“The search yielded a quantity of 5.56 calibre ammunition used in the M16 rifle and 7.62 calibre used in the AK-47 assault rifle, one stick of dynamite and police uniform,” the police said in a release yesterday, adding that no one was arrested in the raid.
The police said the operation took place at approximately 1:00 pm as part of an effort to stem a gang feud between the “Buckers” and “Lyrics Man” gangs who operate out of the area.
Yesterday, the police said detectives from Operation Kingfish would continue their investigations into the matter.
