Roehampton, Riahs for cricket final Saturday
ROEHAMPTON, St James
Roehampton CC and Riahs CC will meet this Saturday in the finals of the St James Cricket Association’s domestic league finals at the Roehampton Oval after topping the points standings after the preliminary rounds.
Roehampton – who won two games including a rescheduled one last weekend – and Riahs both finished on 50 points each to earn the right to meet in the decider.
Orange CC, who finished with 41 points, will meet Overton CC – 40 points, in the play-off for third and fourth place at Cornwall College while Cambridge CC and MoBay Cricket Club will meet for fifth and sixth place at Cambridge.
Riahs will go into the game with the edge having won their last four games in a row including beating Orange by 37 runs last weekend with the veteran Chester Sterling turning in a fine all-round performance of 43 and a three-wicket haul.
Roehampton put in fine performances in beating Cambridge by seven wickets on Saturday then getting by MoBay CC in a rescheduled game by 27 runs on Sunday.
Meanwhile the 50-over-a-side Limited Overs league is set to start next weekend with all eight teams that took part in the league competition.
