Petersfield FC take on Perry Strikers today
PROSPECT, Westmoreland
Petersfield FC will seek to stay in the race for a place in the semi-final of the Westmoreland Football Association’s Captain’s Bakery Major League this afternoon when they take on Perry Strikers at the Prospect field.
Petersfield is in third place on 26 points, the same as Savanah FC and two more than Paul Island who will get three points from Uprising who has withdrawn from the competition.
Perry Strikers are meanwhile out of the race for the semi-final as they are on 12 points with a game to go after today.
Russia FC and Poolside FC have already secured their place in the top four play-offs.
Russia widened their lead at the top of the tables after edging Roaring River 1-0 on Monday and are on 34 points, four more than Poolside, the second end of round champions.
Today Poolside will take on Westmoreland Police Youth Club who are still harbouring hopes and has an outside chance of advancing to the semi-finals but must win today at Bay Road Sports Complex.
In an exciting game on Monday at Blackness, Straths FC came from three goals down after just 11 minutes to earn an exciting 4-4 draw with Mt Grace at Blackness Oval.
Mt Grace surged into a big lead thanks to two goals form Andre Lowe in the 6th and 11th minutes and one from Damion Wilson in the 8th minute.
Kacheve Parkinson pulled one back for Straths in the 17th minute but a goal from Dwayne Blake in the 39th minute restored Mt Grace’s three goals advantage.
It was all Straths in the second half however as they scored three goals in a 23-minute span in the second half to get the point.
Omar Porter’s penalty conversion made it 4-2, Parkinson added another in the 80th while Mario Lowery tied up the scores in the 83rd minute.
