City Knights pip Trelawny Tornadoes

City Knights on Saturday squeezed out a one-point win over the Trelawny Tornadoes in the Western Basketball Association League game on Saturday. In the other scheduled game the Bay City Lions were awarded a 20-0 victory as the Negril Power Rangers forfeited.
In the game played at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Multi-Purpose court, the Knights edged the Tornadoes 59-58. The Knights owed their victory to Omroy Kerr and Jamoi Richards who recorded 23 and 10 points respectively. The Tornadoes were kept in the game by Huntley Dehaney who was a power on the offensive and defensive ends of the court with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Fitzroy Gordon and Sanjay Campbell provided valuable support with 10 points each.
The Knights took a narrow advantage clinching the first quarter 13-12 but fell behind in the second quarter recording only 15 points to the Tornadoes’ 24.
Strong offensive play saw the Knights registering a dominant performance in the third quarter of 24 points to the Tornadoes’ 10. In the fourth quarter the Tornadoes rebounded to register 12 points to the Knights’ seven points which saw them falling a point short.
In female action Unique Ballers overpowered Lady Avalanche 68-46.
Unique Ballers showed no mercy over the four quarters taking the first 10-6. They improved their dominance taking the second 16-10. Their most dominant quarter was the third which they won 23-14 before continuing to stamp their class in the fourth quarter 19-16 to pull off their convincing win.
Tracy-Ann Kelly had a good all-round game of 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block to lead Unique Ballers to victory with good support from Zandria Dell with 17 points and five assists and Dezan Mclean with 12 points, three rebounds and three steals.
Nicole Dias was outstanding for Lady Avalanche with 20 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Ladonna Lamont supported with eight points and 10 rebounds while Suzette Virgo was a powerhouse on defense with 16 rebounds. She also chipped in with five points and five assists.
