MONTEGO BAY, St James- The finalists in the first-ever Flow National Basketball League West competition will be decided this weekend after what is expected to be a tense, nail-biting finale.

Three teams, Hoopers, Granville Jaguars and Catherine Hall All-stars could finish tied on 14 points and organisers could be forced to search the rules books to determine which two teams will advance to the finals.

All three teams are on 12 points going into this weekend’s set of matches and are expected to win their games.

The rules include several tie-breaking methods when teams are tied on points, and the organisers could be called up on to go through several of them to determine the top two teams.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the point’s tables, Sav Hawks, on six points, with two games to go, and Inner-city Avalanche, on seven, with one game to play, are seeking to avoid relegation.

On Saturday at 7:30 pm, Hawks will meet Catherine Hall All-stars at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, and on Sunday at 4:00 pm Avalanche will face Granville Jaguars at the same venue, followed by Hawks against Hoopers in a rescheduled game.

Hawks has shown a lot of improvements after a slow start, leading to their win over Inner-city Avalanche last weekend. They will face a Catherine Hall team that will be seeking to end the regular season on a high with a fourth straight win.

After back-to-back wins over Granville and Hoopers, Catherine Hall struggled against Avalanche before escaping with a four-point 60-56 win on Sunday.

Catherine Hall led by double digits in the third quarter, but allowed Avalanche back in the game as they came within a basket of taking the lead but couldn’t afford such a let-down against Sav Hawks.

On Sunday, Granville must avoid any let-down against the competitive Avalanche team, while in the nightcap, Hoopers have to rebound from the back-to- back losses if they are to contest the final.
