Western Ja domino league returns
MONTEGO BAY, St Jamaica — Wray and Nephew have elected to be the new sponsors of the Western Jamaica Domino Association Premier and Division one leagues, set to start next January.
“We are more than elated by this development. Now that Wray and Nephew is on board through their White Overproof Rum we are all set to roll,” said Walford ‘Andrade’ Morgraidge, president of the Western Jamaica Domino Association.
According to Morgraidge, a meeting is set for December 13, at 1:00 pm at the Strike Force Domino club on Barnett Street.
” We will meet with the sponsors and the participating clubs to discuss exactly how the competition will be run in terms of format and scheduling,” he told the Observer West.
I am glad that we have a sponsor in this way because we will not be beholden to latecomers who thinking that the match can’t start without them because they were sponsoring the matches which is what used to happen when we had to depend on the players for sponsorship,” he said.
The Western Jamaica Domino Association concluded its last set of matches for the Premier and Division leagues earlier this year in April. Since then Morgraidge has been beating down the doors of Corporate Jmaica in search of a sponsor in order to star the new season.
“This is certainly a reward for my effort,” he said.
A four-table Twenty/20 domino competition for all the participating clubs will also be hosted at the club on that date.
