Nightclub mayhem
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A gunman yesterday shot dead a man outside a nightclub here, then walked inside the entertainment facility where he shot and killed another man and injured an exotic dancer who was relaxing after the night’s work.
One of the dead was identified as Marvin Senior, a 33-year-old small restaurant operator of Crawford Street in Mount Salem, St James. The other man was not identified.
The young exotic dancer, who resides in Priory, St Ann, was said to be on the job for the first night.
According to the police, shortly after the club was closed about 3:00 am, Senior was attacked and shot by a gunman while sitting in his black Lexus motor car outside the facility. Senior, who was said to be awaiting the club’s owner and employees, received multiple gunshot wounds.
The trigger-happy gunman, police said, then entered the club when he shot the unidentified man who ran inside the room where the 18-year-old exotic dancer was lying on a bed. The presence of the young woman, however, did not deter the actions of the bloody-thirsty gunman who pumped several more bullets into the body of the helpless man. One of the bullets caught the woman in the back.
The trigger man escaped on foot along Jarrett Street, the police said.
Police investigators had not established a motive for the double killing but have ruled out robbery as nothing was stolen.
The double killing, meanwhile, pushed the murder tally in the parish to 219, three more than the number recorded by St James for all of 2008.
Most of the murders committed in the St James police division have reportedly stemmed from a fallout between players involved in the lottery scam prevalent in the parish.
