‘Here’s what we want, Prime Minister’
Following the prime minister’s announcement Sunday that the Government will review the $21-billion tax package, the Observer sought the views of the public yesterday as to what they would want the Government to roll back the taxes on.
Natalie Campbell, nurse
Government should remove the tax off everything because it is hard on everybody and times are very hard. We can barely find money to send our children to school.
Harris Henry, claims negotiator
I would like him to roll back the taxes on basic food items like flour and cornmeal and also on pampers.
Donna Messam, vendor
The Government should really roll back the taxes on basic food items.
Kaun Williams, vendor
I would like the Government to remove the taxes from the basic food items.
Shanique Brown, insurance officer
Government should definitely remove the tax off tampons, sugar and tinned food.
John, vendor
I want the prime minister to roll back the taxes on basic food items, baby food and light bill.
Richard Morgan, groundsman
I’m OK with the taxes. If Government put on tax on those things it must be a reason and tax is a must.
