Wisynco to distribute Budweiser
WISYNCO Group has acquired exclusive distributorship of US-based Budweiser beer within Jamaica, a release stated yesterday.
Wisynco became the distributor about a month ago and said that the beer would be sold throughout the island. Budweiser was available informally at some supermarkets prior to this deal.
Budweiser’s parent company Anheuser-Busch said that Jamaica “represented an interesting market that has an appreciation for a good beer”.
“Wisynco successfully distributes many world-class brands in Jamaica and I believe that our experience with Budweiser and Bud Light will be no different,” said Wisynco managing director William Mahfood through the press statement. “We are a food and beverage company that sees an opportunity to expand into the alcoholic beverage market and specifically the beer segment that has proven to be profitable here in Jamaica. Budweiser and Bud Light are two international iconic brands… and we feel strongly that they will do well in Jamaican market.”
Budweiser is an American lager which has been brewed since 1876 using a blend of US and European hops, and a combination of barley malts and rice. A centuries-old, European-aging technique called kraeusening is also used, which involves adding a small amount of freshly yeasted wort to fermenting beer at the start of the ageing cycle to facilitate natural carbonation. Then, Anheuser-Busch’s exclusive beechwood ageing process helps create a crisp, clean taste. It contains five per cent alcohol by volume (per 355 ml serving) and will be distributed in bottles and cans.
Anheuser Busch, which is based in St Louis, is the leading American brewer and it controls 50.9 per cent share of US beer sales.
Wisynco also distributes Corona beer.
