Reno FC trump Prosper
LUCEA, Hanover – Former champions Reno FC of Westmoreland will go into the holiday break as the leaders in the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League after scoring a big 4-0 win over promoted Prosper at the Rusea’s High grounds on Sunday.
Former national youth player, Fabian Blake, scored twice for Reno who won for the seventh time in eight games to improve to 19 points, three more than Seba United who were idle as their game against Mt Pelier was not played. Mt Pelier is to face the disciplinary committee after the previous game against Bamboo was blown off prematurely due to crowd invasion of the field. As such their games have been postponed.
In addition to Blake’s double, Tremaine Perry and Martin Williams also scored for Reno.
Bamboo, the early pace setters had to settle for a point in their 1-1 draw away to Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, and moved to third place on 14 points from six games, leading Frome who has also played six games, on goal difference.
Violet Kickers seems to be picking up momentum after a slow start and hammered double defending champions Wadadah 4-0 in their St James derby to move to seven points all earned in their last three outings.
Granville also shook off a losing streak by beating Petersfield 3-0 away from home and are now tied with Catherine Hall, both on nine points from six games.
The league resumes on January 3.
