Who will hear?

ISAIAH 42:22-23: “This is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, they are for a prey and none delivereth, for a spoil and none saith restore. Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?” The first seven verses of this chapter speak of the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ, who will bring restoration, comfort and deliverance to all people.
This prophesy has already been fulfilled. However, the continuation of the work of Jesus Christ has been mandated to His church. This is not an assignment that has been delegated only to pastors and ministers but to all who are servants of Christ. It would indeed be a sad indictment on us the body of Christ if this is applicable to us: “… they are for a prey and none delivers, for a spoil and none says restore.”
We have been given the ministry of reconciliation. We have not been given a ministry of “multiple choice”. We are the repairers of the breach, restorers of the paths to dwell in”: (Isaiah 58:12). Who among us will give an ear to this, who will listen for the time to come?
I believe we have no other choice but to declare the truth of God’s word, so that those who are blind to the truth and deceived by the lies of the enemy may be restored, comforted, delivered and reconciled to a relationship with their loving Heavenly Father.
Eternal Father, today as a nation, we pray that we would indeed cry aloud and spare not, and show Your people their transgressions and sins, so that we may take the opportunity to repent. May the Spirit of Christ bring restoration, comfort, deliverance and the freedom to serve You in Spirit and in truth.
In Jesus’ name
Amen.
