Powell replaces Dawes in Jamaican squad
West Indies pacer Daren Powell has been recalled to Jamaica’s 13-man cricket squad which leaves the island today for rounds two and three of the West Indies Cricket Board regional four-day first-class series, after serving a one-game ban.
Powell along with Andre Russell and Bevon Brown were not considered for the opener Jamaica easily won yesterday against the Windward Island at Chedwin Park after committing a violation of the team’s disciplinary code prior to the start of the tournament.
He replaces Jason Dawes as the only change to the squad which defeated the Windiwards by six wickets.
Jamaica, the defending champions, travel to St Kitts today to play the Leeward Islands between Friday and next Monday at Warner Park, and then on to Barbados where they will meet Guyana at Foursquare between January 22 and 25.
Guyana got a bye for the first round and will play their first match against Jamaica, minus their two leading stars, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan.
The full team comprises captain Tamar Lambert, Xavier Marshall, Brenton Parchment, Donovan Pagon, Wavell Hinds, Brendan Nash, Carlton Baugh, Jr, Nikita Miller, Odean Brown, Andrew Richardson, Shawn Findlay, David Bernard, Jr and Daren Powell.
