Jennifer Aniston and Mariah Carey flash the flesh
They may not have been nominated for any awards, but Jennifer Aniston and Mariah Carey attracted plenty of attention at the Golden Globes with their revealing outfits Sunday night.
While Aniston showed off her amazing toned legs in a slashed-to-the-thigh Valentino dress and Versace strappy sandals, Carey’s tight-fitting Herve Leger by Max Azria bandage dress was literally fighting to contain her ample cleavage.
Aniston and Carey, both 40, were just some of the stars who opted for black on a distinctly feminine red carpet that was dominated by pink, purple and peach gowns. Most female stars found their floor-length gowns ended up getting soaked on an unusually rainy evening in Los Angeles.
Award winner Drew Barrymore was widely considered one of the best dressed this year in her nude Atelier Versace gown with shoulder and hip crystal embellishments, which she teamed with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds, Roger Vivier clutch and Jimmy Choo sandals.
Meanwhile singer Cher, 30 Rock star Tina Fey and Nicole Kidman were widely panned by fashion critics for their outfits.
Cher wore an unusual, revealing Gothic reverse corset-front floor-length gown, while comedienne Fey’s figure was swamped by her black and grey Zac Posen prom dress.
Also triumphing both in the fashion and awards stakes was Best Actress in a Drama winner Sandra Bullock, who wore a deep purple Bottega Veneta chiffon gown.
German actress Diane Kruger, whose Inglourious Basterds co-star Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor, opted for a vibrant Christian Lacroix dress, while Best Actress in a Drama nominee Emily Blunt looked stunning in pink tulle and chiffon Dolce & Gabbana.
Also opting for purple was pop star Fergie, who arrived on the arm of her actor husband Josh Duhamel in a strapless Elie Saab column gown.

X-rated Ricky Gervais
During rehearsals, Ricky Gervais promised his Golden Globe bosses that he’d leave out his most controversial jokes but the British comedian certainly didn’t keep his word when the cameras started rolling.
The Office star set all of Hollywood in his sights as he opened the 67th Annual Golden Globes last night, taking a swipe at everyone from Mel Gibson to Angelina Jolie with some X-rated comments thrown in about himself.
Even fellow Brit Sir Paul McCartney wasn’t spared, with Gervais making fun of his costly divorce from ex-wife Heather Mills.
Irreverent Gervais sipped on a glass of beer during the show at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, quipping at one point: “I like a drink as much as the next man… unless the next man is Mel Gibson.” As Gibson — who was convicted of drunk driving in 2006 — walked on to present the Best Director gong, he pretended to slur his words.

Rihanna watches the basketball …
After months of heartache, it seems that Rihanna is finally letting her really curly hair down.
The singer was spotted attending a basketball game in Los Angeles Saturday with new man Matt Kemp, who is a baseball player.
And if the smile on her face is anything to go by, the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder is doing her a world of good. Rihanna looked relaxed as she watched the action from the side of the court wearing a crisp white top, jeans and white high-top trainers.
And her mop of blonde curls looked particularly full of bounce as she cheered on the players.

‘Bad hair day and feeling sick’
Ashton Kutcher was all dressed up in his ‘penguin suit’ at the Golden Globe Awards last night but there was just one thing missing — his wife Demi Moore.
The Punk’d star was forced to attend the Beverly Hills ceremony alone after the actress fell ill and — even more grave — was suffering a bad hair day.
She was expected to join Ashton, who presented an award with Jennifer Garner, on the red carpet but instead stayed home. The 47-year-old posted a picture of herself on popular social networking site Twitter Sunday looking tired and bedraggled.
She commented: ‘Feeling sick and having a bad hair day!’
