Beaches Boscobel stages golf event for Haiti
LOCAL and international golfers will be teeing off in an effort to raise money for earthquake-ravished Haiti this Sunday.
The Island Routes/ Beaches Boscobel Haiti Charity Tournament will be held at the Upton Golf and Country Club, with tee time set for 12 noon.
According to Howard Spittle, general manager of Beaches Boscobel Resort, the event is open to all Jamaican golfers as well as guests holidaying at the various resorts who may want to make their contribution to the relief efforts.
Spittle expressed thanks to Island Routes for being a major sponsor of the event.
“We are calling on all interested golfers to come down and participate in this event which is for a really worthy cause, ” Spittle said. “And they will be competing for some great prizes.’
According to Dave Reid, Head Pro at the Sandals Golf and Country Club, the format will be a Two-man Scramble and an exciting day of golf is expected on the popular course.
Reid said several guests staying at the Sandals/Beaches hotels in the areas have already started sponsoring holes and so far the interest has been high.
“We’re hoping to see some of our better golfers on show, ” Reid noted.
Funds raised from the event will be donated to the Sandals Foundation Haiti relief efforts.
