Big win for G’Headley in primary netball
GEORGE Headley crushed Chetolah Park 35-0 as the INSPORTS-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schoolgirls Netball League got underway at the Leila Robinson Courts yesterday.
The winners, led by shooters Gabrielle Rose and Khadene Thaxter, went on a goal-scoring spree early in the first half as they pushed the team to a 6-0 lead.
With support coming from Shaneila Levene, Kayanna Gordon and Keverone Mason, George Headley scored a further 12 as they went into the half-time break with a commanding 18-0 lead.
Meanwhile, defending champions St Patrick’s also won their opening game by whipping New Providence 23-0. The winners raced to a 12-0 lead at half-time through shooters Taseeki Williams and Dyanta Lee.
It was tough going for New Providence in the second half as the defending champions continued to have the better of their opponents, who scored another 11 goals to come out easy winners.
Former many-time champions Mona were also convincing 23-0 winners over Pembroke Hall.
In other results, August Town defeated Dupont 21-6; Alpha defeated Lawrence Tavern 14-8; St Benedict’s beat Half-Way-Tree 10-1; Clan Carthy stopped Excelsior 9-6; Tavares Gardens beat Franklyn Town 9-6; Rollington Town bested St Francis; Mountain View clipped Harbour View 6-5, and Rousseau got past St Aloysius 5-3.
The competition continues tomorrow at 10:45 am.
