Matthew McConaughey shows off newborn daughter Vida
Matthew McConaughey has shown off his newborn daughter Vida for the first time, in a touching family photo taken shortly after her birth.
In the black and white shot, taken soon after Vida’s birth on January 3, proud dad McConaughey beams at his Brazilian girlfriend Camila Alves as they cradle the little girl in a hospital bed.
Vida, whose name translates as ‘life’ in Portuguese, joins the couple’s 18-month-old son Levi. He wrote: ‘Here’s a pic of our latest family member Vida Alves McConaughey.
‘Thanks for all your well-wishes sent our way, the future’s lookin’ bright, just keep livin’, Matthew and Camila.’
The Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past actor, 40, posted the photo of his official website, the same place where he announced Vida’s birth nearly four weeks ago.
Vida weighed 7lbs 7ozs when she arrived at a Los Angeles hospital.
The couple didn’t know the sex of the baby until her birth so were pleasantly surprised to have a daughter. They announced the 26-year-old’s second pregnancy last June on his blog.
The actor wrote: ‘We pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time. Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows. ‘Not sure if it’s a boy or girl but we have our instincts.’
McConaughey and Alves started dating in 2006 and soon started living together in the LA beachside suburb of Malibu. Last year, McConaughey said they were in no rush to wed and were too busy bringing up their family to plan a wedding.
He said: ‘It’s just not something I plan on doing right now, and that I feel like I need to do right now.
‘It’s not an institution I’m against at all. I’m actually for it, believe in it and have seen it actually be very, very healthy for many relationships. Some people go through it some great ways.’
Meanwhile, the busy dad was back at work today, looking dapper in a black suit on Malibu Beach.

‘We’ll tell stories as long as they’re there to tell’
With the Sex And The City movie sequel due to be released this year, there are already rumours abound that a third feature film could be on the way.
And one of its stars, Kim Cattrall, did nothing to quash those rumours during an appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show.
The 53-year-old actress was questioned about the possibility of a third movie based on the popular US series and her reply will no doubt excite fans of the show. Wearing a glamorous white one-shoulder dress and killer red heels, she told the BBC host: ‘We’ll tell stories as long as they’re there to tell’. The rumour mill has been awash with whispers of a third SATC film recently after sources reportedly said that its stars were filming two movies back to back in order to maintain continuity.

Richie blasts suggestions of an eating disorder
These sizzling pictures of Nicole Richie give little clue to the weight issues which have plague her recent years.
With a tiny Size Zero frame giving her a severe case of ‘lollipop head’ syndrome, fans had become concerned for her health, insisting she had become too thin.
But Nicole, who is at her curviest best after having two children with boyfriend Joel Madden, has come forward to reassure fans she has always been healthy. The 28-year-old also took the opportunity to blast critics who had accused her of suffering from an eating disorder.
She said: ‘I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t. It’s extremely insulting and irresponsible. An eating disorder is serious and it’s a disease.’

Renee Zellweger shares a hug with elderly woman driver
If Renee Zellweger had planned an inconspicuous exit from boyfriend Bradley Cooper’s home she was out of luck.
As the actress quietly climbed into her car outside Cooper’s new Los Angeles pad, another motorist clipped the side of her vehicle, knocking off the wing mirror and denting the door.
With no assistants or security present Renee, casually clad in work-out gear, had to deal with the collision herself. She did so calmly, photographing the damage to her Toyota Prius and swapping insurance details with the driver of the BMW X5.
Big-hearted Renee even comforted the elderly female who had knocked her car, giving her a reassuring hug.
