Alleged kidnappers seek bail
THE four persons implicated in the kidnapping of a St Ann businessman for a ransom are today scheduled to appear before the High Court Division of the Gun Court where their lawyers are expected to make bail applications on their behalf.
The four were remanded in police custody when they appeared in court last Friday.
Two of the accused — 44-year-old businessman Trevor-Lyn Rowe of High Mountain in Bog Walk and Andrew Dillion of De La Vega City in Spanish Town, both in St Catherine — are charged with kidnapping, conspiracy to kidnap, extortion and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Accused Nickesha White, 27, of Pineapple Court, St Ann, is charged with conspiracy to kidnap, while Aldane Jackson, 39, of Steer Town, St Ann, is charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap.
The four accused were among eight persons who were recently held by the Organised Crime Investigative Unit for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping ring, which is said to be behind the January 14 kidnapping of the St Ann businessman.
The other four persons detained by the police were later released.
The kidnappers had demanded $500,000 for the release of the businessman. The money was paid over but only a portion has been recovered, according to the police.
