Eastern Conference

Though not as dominant as in the days of Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls are on an Eastern Conference rampage.

Backed by a resurgent Derrick Rose, the Bulls at the close of the week were on a five-game winning streak, getting over some tough opposition in the process.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to dominate a can boast of being the most in-form team in the league thanks to seven straight wins that they have recorded. They closed the week with a 94-73 win over the Indiana Pacers with LeBron James narrowly missing out on a triple-double recording 22 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds.

The Atlanta Hawks had a decent week, at one stage moving up to second behind the Cavs. A comprehensive win over the Boston Celtics on Friday did a lot for confidence, but the following night the Orlando Magic ran over them 104-96. With the win, the Magic continued to recover from their four-game losing streak ending the week on a two-game winning streak.

The Charlotte Bobcats continue to impress, closing the week with a 103-96 win over the Sacramento Kings. Judging on current form, the win helped them to finish behind the Bulls and the Cavs for the week.

The Toronto Raptors are not to be undone as they are being commandingly led by Chris Bosh who has them on a four-game winning streak, while the Milwaukee Bucks and the Washington Wizards are improving behind two-game winning streaks.

The New Jersey Nets managed to elevate their win tally to four, but as with all their other wins; they lost in the very next game. The Detroit Pistons are still woeful, losing their most recent four while the Philadelphia 76ers has lost their most recent three.

Jazz it up

Western Conference

If the Bulls are reminding the Eastern Conference of the days of old, then Utah Jazz is carrying out the Western Conference equivalent. Similarly to the Bulls, the Jazz closed the week on a five-game winning streak; brushing aside the Phoenix Suns and the Kings in their recent fixtures.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to lead the conference by a considerable margin over the Denver Nuggets. The San Antonio Spurs are on the rise again, rebounding from some unwanted losses with a hard-fought two-game winning streak.

The Portland Trailblazers continue to make the best of what they have and backed by a career-high 52 points from Andre Miller defeated the Dallas Mavericks 114-112 in overtime. Miller missed only eight of his 31 shots for the game.

The New Orleans Hornets also closed the week with an overtime win, brushing aside the Memphis Grizzlies 109-102 in a game which also allowed them to replace their opponent in the top eight. Steve Nash continues to pump life into the Suns as his late rally helped the Suns snap their dismal losing streak, upsetting the Mavericks 112-106.

The Denver Nuggets had their eight-game winning streak snapped by the Oklahoma City Thunder 101-84. The ever-improving Kevin Durant led all scorers with 30 points. The Mavericks and Grizzlies are sharing the same fate as after good runs, they are both victims of a two-game losing streak.

The Golden State Warriors, performing far below their potential and expectations, have lost their lost four games while the cellar-dwellers the Minnesota Timberwolves though finally bringing their win tally to double-digits still chase their closest rivals by over four wins.
