Rivoli clip August Town 1-0
KIRK Ramsay broke through the August Town defence in the 52nd minute to gift Rivoli United a 1-0 at the UWI Bowl in the Digicel Premier League yesterday.
Rivoli have moved up to 26 points and are now in seventh place instead of August
Town, who trail by a point in eighth place.
With their first two encounters ending 0-0 and 1-1, respectively, the Spanish Town-based club was happy with this victory.
Coach Oneil Thomas said his team was “fortunate” to win the game, but that defensively, Rivoli showed “fighting spirit”.
“The passing game was not as such, but we played a very good game,” he pointed out.
“The important thing is to be in the top six, and that is what we are aiming for. The going is looking good and we just don’t have to lose any games,”
he added.
Rivoli drew with Waterhouse 0-0 in their previous game of the
third round.
August ‘s coach Paul Young was very disappointed with
the loss.
“We were very lethargic; we had no cohesiveness to our offence. We were playing kick ball…our senior players didn’t step up.
“It’s a weak performance; we took Rivoli lightly and suffered the consequence. We gave up a ‘soft’ goal, poor marking and never looked like were going to score,” explained Young.
