Arnett crush Greenwich 5-0 to advance
EMBATTLED Premier League campaigners Arnett Gardens advanced to the next round of the Flow Champions Cup Knockout following a 5-0 thrashing of Major League side Greenwich Town at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Cornel Chin-Sue opened the scoring with a minute remaining in the second half after putting away the ball from 30 yards with a curve kick which went into the top right side of the goal.
After a lacklustre first half, Arnett were on the warpath in the second half. Rasheede Clarke sent the red-and-blacks 2-0 up in the 62nd before William Richards scored a double in the 67th and the 80th.
Kevin Wilson put the final nail in the coffin of Greenwich Town from the penalty spot in the 82nd.
“It was a good game from the Greenwich Town team; they came here spirited, but I think we had more technical and more competent players and we gave a good account of ourselves,” said Arnett Gardens coach Wayne Fairclough.
He said his team underestimated Greenwich Town, which might have accounted for their poor showing in the first half.
“But in the second half we came out knowing we had to really score some goals to build our confidence for Sunday, and I think we did just that,”
he added.
