MAY PEN, Clarendon — Fairburn are now sole leaders of Group A, after half-centuries from Omar Knight, Kevin Walters and Fernando Howe carried them to a big 225-run victory over Treadlight in second-round action of the Clarendon Cricket Association’s ’40 for 40′ limited-overs competition last Sunday.

The win, which was Fairburn’s second in as many matches, propelled them to the top of the group with eight points — four more than second-placed Twin Palms and Campden, who both have a game in hand against each other.

Also on Sunday, Ebony Park condemned Longville Park to their second consecutive defeat, as a five-wicket haul from Glenroy Christie (5-29 from eight overs) helped them to a 26-run win at the Ebony Park Heart Academy.

Longville Park, who lost their first-round fixture against Fairburn, are now fixed at the bottom of the group with no point, while Ebony Park were winning for the first time after they failed to show for their opening round game against Campden.

At 19 Miles, home team Twin Palms got their campaign off the ground with a narrow three-wicket win over Seven Heights and are now second with a game to play.

In Group B, first-round leaders Bushy Park dropped to fourth after losing by eight wickets to new leaders Mineral Heights (eight), for whom Sadique Brown smashed an unbeaten 116.

Portland Cottage also tasted success for the second straight week and have now drawn level on points with the leaders, after Marcel Parchment’s all-round performance of 135 and 3-29 saw them stopping bottom-placed Bring Back The Love by 59 runs.

Led by Raymond Johnson’s 6-59 off eight overs, Sandy Bay also had a convincing 116-run triumph over home team Wood Hall at Wood Hall All-Age. They are now third in the group with four points.
