FX Trader CFA Division One begins today
LONGVILLE PARK, Clarendon — The 2010 staging of the FX Trader Clarendon Football Association Division One competition begins today with a press launch and a dress parade, followed by an opening game between Longville Park and Free Town at the Longville Park Community Centre, starting at 3:00 pm.
Thirty-two teams will participate in this year’s competition, which will be divided into four groups (A, B, C and D) of eight and will play each other once.
After the first round, the top-two teams from each zone will advance to the quarter-final stage which will then be separated into two groups (A and B) of four, after which the group winners and their runners-up will contest the semi-finals.
The two successful teams from the semi-finals will then meet in the championship decider, with the two losers playing for third-place honours.
At the end of the competition, cash prizes will be awarded to the following: the top-four teams, the most-disciplined team (trophy), the top goalscorer (trophy), the most valuable player (trophy), the winning coach (trophy) and the winners of the dress parade.
The first- and second-placed teams will also receive 30 gold and 30 silver medals, respectively, with the winners lifting the championship trophy.
