A Career in baking
Welcome to week five of career walk. TEENage hopes that you all had enough bun and cheese for the holiday but not too much. TEENage also hopes that you did not forget the real meaning of the Lenten season.
This week seeing that we all had a lot of buns to eat this pass weekend, TEENage wishes to explore the career of being a baker. Don’t you think it would be more convenient to bake your own? Well for all the persons who love to bake pastries this is a career type for you.

Today we will be looking at the Job Title: Baker
Well it is a good thing for every teen to know how to cook. However, another aspect of cooking is baking and for pastry lovers, it would be really great if you could help yourself by baking your own goods. This could even be a side career for you. A baker is one who bakes breads, buns and cakes, simple put.
For one to become an baker it is required that they have passes in the following subjects leaving high school: Food and Nutrition, English Language and Mathematics. The income is below average, but as TEENage mentioned before this could just be a side line career for you. Along with the subjects mentioned aboe another requirement is Certificate (Cert)/ Diploma (Dip) in Baking Technology. The outlook demand for this career type is also growing.
To be successful at this career one must possess good organisational skills and pay close attention to details. This job may become very challenging as there may be times that you end up with unsold products. You will also have to work with heat and big equipments if you want to be very efficient at this career type.
Persons that are looking at choosing this career can get jobs in Bakeries and Hotels.
