Mitchell Town hammer Westham 10-1 in Div 1
LIONEL TOWN, Clarendon — Mitchell Town FC marked their first victory in the FX Trader/Clarendon Football Association Division One with a big 10-1 hammering of Westham at the Monymusk Sports Club on Tuesday evening, but remain in the bottom half of Zone One.
Mitchell Town had only picked up one point from their previous three games — losing twice and drawing once, but rebounded nicely for their first win which lifted them two places up to fifth on four points.
At Portland Cottage, Portland continued their resurgence with a comfortable 3-0 win over Coffalls and improved to six points in fourth.
Over in Zone Two, New Longsville and Spartan FC regain their stronghold on the lead with 6-1 and 3-1 victories over Union Stars and Rock River SC, respectively.
Both teams are now tied atop the zone on nine points each with an identical goal average of 10 goals for and one against from three consecutive wins.
On Monday, Chatteau Progressive handed Free Town their first defeat, clipping them 1-0 at the New Bowens Community Centre to join them atop Zone Four on six points apiece, as Youths and Cross United ended 0-0.
The competition will continue on Thursday with two games in Zones One and Four, both starting at 3:30 pm.
In Zone One, leaders Comfort (nine points) will play away to third-placed Springfield (six points) at Springfield, while Free Town and Cross United meet at Bodles.
