Spartan on roll in FX Trader Div One
CHAPELTON, Clarendon — Spartan FC continued their impressive showing in the FX Trader/Clarendon Football Association Division One, as they drubbed Union Stars 6-0 at Clarendon College on Sunday to register their fourth consecutive win of the season.
The north Clarendon team are now sole leaders of Zone Two on 12 points, three more than New Longsville, whose game against Rock River SC at the Turners Oval was rained out.
The Zone Three top-of-the-table match-up between Treadlight and Cherry Tree Gardens was also postponed due to a waterlogged field at Treadlight.
Spartan are now the highest scoring team in the competition, netting 16 goals in four outings, while conceding one.
Union Stars, on the other hand, are yet to collect a point after three starts, and apart from Westham, they have the worst defensive record, letting in 15 goals, while scoring two.
The competition will continue today with three more first-round games. Mitchell Town, who hammered Westham 10-1 last Tuesday, will host Abassian at the Monymusk Sports Club in Zone One, while in Zone Two, Bailey and Bailey’s United will oppose Rio United at Clarendon College.
At the Gravel Hill playing field, Gravel Hill will go up against Ebony Stars. All games are slated for a 3:30 pm kick-off.
