Seaview notch maiden win in St James League
WHITEHOUSE, St James — Seeaview FC won for the first time in the Claro St James FA’s Division One competition on Friday after edging Reggae Youths 3-2 in a Zone B return-round game played at Seaview.
Floyd Fuller scored twice for Seaview, once in either half, while Shavar Blake added a third to stave off a late-charging Reggae Youths and improve to six points and into third place, jointly on six points with Champions.
Fuller scored in the 23rd minute, then added a second in the 49th before Omar Gordon pulled one back for Reggae Youths in the 52nd.
Blake then restored Seaview’s two-goal lead in the 62nd, while Neiko Taylor scored another for Reggae Youths in the 87th.
Montego Bay Boys Club increased their lead at the top after edging Marl Road 2-1 at Bickersteth Community Centre.
The win pushed Boys Club to 16 points, 10 more than Champion and Seaview.
Devon Smith scored in the 15th, while Walton Shaw added a second in the 46th before Sheldon Waite scored for Marl Road in the 80th.
In Zone A, Little Miami inched ahead of Rosemount into the lead after edging neighbours Westgreen FC 1-0 at Westgreen, avenging a first-round loss.
Odeno Spence’s 49th-minute goal was enough for Little Miami as they moved to 12 points, two more than Westgreen and Rosemount, who drew 1-1 against Juniors FC at Mt Salem.
Javier Peak scored his sixth goal for Rosemount, netting in the 55th before Damion Sappleton scored for Juniors FC in the 68th.
Harmony, Clarks Town in mid-season clash
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Former champions Harmony FC and Clarks Town will meet this afternoon in the mid-season final of the Trelawny/National Rums Major League at Elliston Wakeland Centre, starting at 3:30.
Despite Clarks Town winning the only meeting of the season so far, 1-0 in the first round, the teams were almost identical statistically with 24 points from seven wins, three draws and a loss, but Harmony lead with a slightly better goal difference.
Harmony have scored more goals 20 to 17, but Clarks Town have the better defence, allowing just five goals.
Kenardo Wilson leads Harmony with eight goals and will have the likes of Thomas Grant and Shane Crawford as they seek to avenge their only loss of the season so far.
Clarks Town’s topscorer Dane Johnson has also notched eight goals and his strike partners will be Romaine Roberts and Novel White.
The game is a play-to-finish encounter and extra-time and penalty kicks will be used to determine the winners, if necessary.
