Former airport worker gets bail
MONTEGO BAY, St James – AN unemployed man from Cambridge, St James, was on Monday offered bail when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court to account for J$200,000 as well as US$150 in counterfeit note.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ramsey Shakes whom the court heard recently lost his job at the Sangster International Airport, is facing charges of unlawful possession of money as well as possession of counterfeit notes.
It is understood that when he was arrested last week, two persons tried to claim the money, but also failed to give a good account of it.
The allegations are that Shakes was seen acting suspiciously while driving in the vicinity of the Sangster International Airport.
When he was pulled over, his pants pockets had bulges noticeable.
He was searched and $100,000 found in each pocket. A further search turned up the counterfeit American money.
He was offered bail in the sum of $250,000 with up to three sureties — ordered to surrender his travel documents and to report to the Cambridge police once a week.
The case will be mentioned on July 29.
