Some schools closing but exams continuing
THE Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC) says that all examinations (CXC, GCE and University of London) will be held as timetabled tomorrow.
Meantime about 98 per cent of those students who had to sit their exams at alternative locations turned up, said the OEC.
Candidates from the following centres should go to the Overseas Examinations Commission, using the Manhattan Road entrance (across from the entrance to the National Water Commission):
• Charlie Smith High
• Kingston College
• Vauxhall High
• Trench Town High
• Kingston High
• National Academy
• Pentecostal Tabernacle
• Emanuel Apostolic
• National Academy
Exam venues have been changed for other schools as follows:
• Candidates from Kingston Technical High and St Andrew Technical High should report to The Mico University College, Marescaux Road;
• All private candidates scheduled to sit at East Queen Street Baptist Church should go to The Mico University College, Marescaux Road;
• Candidates from St George’s College should go back to Ardenne High;
• Candidates writing CSEC examinations from Excelsior High and Exed Community College should report to Holy Childhood High;
• Candidates writing CAPE examinations from Excelsior High and Exed Community College should report to The Mico University College;
Examinations will remain at Camperdown High.
Those candidates who are unable to reach Camperdown should go to the Overseas Examinations Commission while other candidates who are not able to report to their centres should go to the nearest centre.
School officials and examination supervisors should make every effort to be available to ensure the smooth running of the examinations. THE OEC remains in contact with the police.
Candidates sitting at the Overseas Examinations Commission are to take their lunch.

And, the Ministry of Education is advising parents and students that due to the current situation in Western Kingston, the following schools will be closed tomorrow:
Vauxhall High, Trench Town High, Charlie Smith High, St Andrew Technical High, Excelsior High, Excelsior Community College, Kingston College, St George’s College, Tivoli Gardens High, Denham Town High, Kingston High.
Wolmer’s Boys’, Wolmer’s Girls’, Holy Childhood High, St Hugh’s High and Ardenne High schools, which will serve as examination centres for students from the schools that will be closed, will not be opened for regular school tomorrow. These schools will only be opened to accommodate students that will sit examinations.
All other schools are to be opened for normal operations.
