Train wreck
The Indonesian police have confirmed that 31 people are dead and 28 hospitalised as a result of a train collision early Saturday morning. The crash occurred when a train travelling from Semarang in central to Java, was struck by another train traveling to the same location. It is suspected that these are not the final figures and more are expected to come.
Nigeria is 50!
On a day when Nigeria should be celebrating 50 years of independence, instead they were in shock and fear as a car bombing in the city’s capital Abuja killed eight and injured dozens. It is reported that the bombs went off separately in the city destroying a total of 38 cars and halting the country’s festivities. It is suspected that the attack was a result of the ongoing war between militant rebel groups.
Mexico slippage
While closer to home a landslide has reportedly killed 12 people and left 14 injured in Mexico. It is reported that the landslide happened on Wednesday in the small town of Amatan in the state Chiapas. While 11 are still reported to be missing although not confirmed dead.
