Training videos available to companies
SMALL businesses now have the chance to use employee training videos, primarily utilised by Fortune 500 companies with large budgets.
Created by ej4, Training Video On Demand (TrainingVOD) provides smaller companies with effective training videos for an affordable price. Instead of paying between US$250 and US$1,000 per DVD, TrainingVOD sells videos from US$19.99 to US$49.99.
Dan Cooper, a partner at ej4, says that training videos have been popular, but now they are moving online. Similar to a NetFlix model, putting the video online allows the user to pick and choose videos. You can buy videos based on a certain course or an individual topic. Otherwise, companies can decide if they want access to the entire video library. Cooper says that these tactical videos provide the steps, giving employees the opportunity to go back to work and implement these skills.
Maintaining the feel of in-person teaching, the teachers are business experts and consultants. These videos are great teaching tools because they are short and keep viewers engaged — workers can follow the videos with downloadable PDF files. TrainingVOD refers to the teachings as “Maxecution videos” or “task-based videos”. This means the information is cut into segments that emphasise important skills, and behaviours instead of focusing on theories and notions.
Companies can choose from various subjects in TrainingVOD’s library, such as administration, workplace compliance, customer service, selling skills, leadership, safety skills and negotiating. With a medium that enhances the message and is available to viewers 24/7, Cooper refers to it as a YouTube video that features business-related topics.
