W’House, Los P in Women’s semi-final replay
The rain-aborted Sherwin Williams Women’s Football League second-leg semi-final game between Waterhouse and Los Perfectos will be played today at the Spanish Town Prison Oval, starting at 1:00 pm.
The teams were goalless after 20 minutes on Saturday when the game was called off. They drew the first-leg match 2-2.
Los Perfectos coach, Merron Gordon, said it’s a bit difficult to remotivate his players after the build-up for Saturday’s encounter.
“I have to try and motivate them all over again because they had a high confidence going into that game… I’m just trying to get them back in that positive vibe for this replay,” he said.
Gordon says the teams are evenly matched and it will come down to who wants it more on the day.
Waterhouse coach, Xavier Gilbert, said his girls are eagerly awaiting the match-up and he hopes to keep them focused on the big prize.
“They are a main force and there are things we need to do to ensure that we nullify their strengths,” he said, adding that Los Perfectos’ contingent of former National Under-20 players have proved hard to beat.
“It will be a tough battle, but I think the team that makes the least mistakes in the game is going to be victorious,” he said. Waterhouse will look to Shanise Steele, Davia Morrison, Shantel Graham, Sydonie Hall and Ginesha Pickersgill, while their opponents will be depending on national players Nugene Nugent, Carla Daniels, Sasa-Lee Cooper, Semone Honeghan, Sheena Wint and Shinell Briscoe.
