Biker arrested for bribery
RETREAT, St Mary – A motorcyclist in St Mary who allegedly attempted to bribe the police last month is to appear in the Port Maria Resident Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Kenton Pearson, 24, a videographer of Retreat in the parish, is to answer to a charge of perverting the course of justice.
He was charged after police said he attempted to bribe them into accepting $10,000 to drop traffic charges and released a motorbike which they had seized.
Police report that on October 20, while conducting a spot check in the Retreat community, Pearson was stopped.It was revealed that the motorbike he was riding was unlicensed and uninsured.
The cops seized the motorbike, but alleged that Pearson later offered to pay them $10,000 to release it and drop charges against him.
A sting operation was set up last Saturday, during which Pearson was allegedly caught handing over the money to the police.
