Invaders aim to stay atop LIME Div One

SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine — New leaders Invaders FC look to maintain their advantage over second-placed Fraziers Whip in the LIME/St Catherine Division One when they face Waterford in the feature match today at Waterford High School.

Invaders (10 points), one of two unbeaten teams left in the competition, leapfrogged Fraziers into first-place after clipping Racing United 1-0 at the weekend and will be hoping for the same luck against Waterford.

But, Waterford, just three points off the lead in third place, lost only once this season and will no doubt be aiming for a positive result to stay in touch with the pack.

In another game of note, Fraziers, the other unbeaten team, should rebound from their 1-1 draw with Pen Acres last week with a win against bottom-placed Racing United at Gregory Park.

Racing (two points) have not tasted victory after four games and will find it difficult to come by against a speedy Fraziers team.

The day’s other match-ups see Christian Pen hosting Treadways in a mid-table clash, while Pen Acres play Travellers at Green Acres Oval.

All games begin at 3:00 pm.

Meanwhile, Rivoli United and fellow Super League team Tru-Juice advanced to the semi-final of the LIME/St Catherine Knockout competition with contrasting quarter-final results on Sunday at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.

Former champions Rivoli blanked Major League outfit Portsmouth, 2-0, while Tru-Juice needed a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Royal Lakes after they ended 2-2 in full and extra-time.
